PROJECT DESCRIPTION. Following the Emilia earthquake, a major motorcycle manufacturing company in Borgo Panigale (BO) requested our intervention to improve the seismic resistance of their arched shed warehouses and offices.
THE PROBLEM. The intervention could not be carried out from the inside, where industrial activities had to remain undisturbed.
THE SOLUTION. We devised a metal structure to be applied to the roof – an exoskeleton - capable of transferring seismic forces to the tops of the columns, to which it was connected with a special element containing the rainwater drainage system. The intervention was completed by implementing a bracing system for the shed roofs. All operations were performed externally without interfering with the client's activities.
