PROJECT DESCRIPTION. The project, commissioned by a prominent fashion house, involved the construction of an industrial building for the production of handbags, along with associated parking and amenities.
THE PROBLEM. The existing building, dating back to the 1960s/70s, suffered from design and execution errors. Particularly, the steel roof was largely corroded and needed replacement. Additionally, seismic improvement and a design focused on sustainability were required, aiming to achieve LEED Gold certification.
THE SOLUTION. A series of localized interventions were carried out to maintain and strengthen the reinforced concrete building, involving the foundations, floors, and columns. The steel roof was demolished and replaced with a new double-height roof to accommodate utilities for the building. It was necessary to adapt the column heads and create new supports for the metal beams.
