PROJECT DESCRIPTION. The tender issued by CON.AMI (Imola) involved the restoration of a cluster of buildings constructed at different times and with different structural types, with the aim of creating multifunctional offices for rental to various users. Additionally, a seismic improvement of the complex was required.
THE PROBLEM. The buildings, located between Via Selice and Via Galvani, are arranged in an angled layout. Their exteriors, constrained by the Administration, could not be demolished and rebuilt. CON.AMI requested an architectural identity that would characterize the building at the entrance to the city.
THE SOLUTION. Structurally, the buildings were separated with seismic joints and reinforced using techniques such as stitching, the demolition and reconstruction of floors, and the introduction of reinforcements. Architecturally significant is the upper volume, featuring a double glass skin with the map of the city of Imola, created by Leonardo Da Vinci, serigraphed onto it.
